Jesus said, "'Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
35  for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
36  I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me...Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these my brethern, you did it to me.'"
                                                                       Matthew 25:34-36, 40

Back Bay Mission was founded in 1922 as an outreach effort of the First Evangelical Church of Biloxi (later United Church of Christ), whose members responded with compassion and service to the needs of poor "fisher folk" living in deplorable conditions along the Back Bay of Biloxi, Mississippi.  Since then, Back Bay Mission has continually grown its services and ministries, always keeping the impoverished and marginalized at the center of its concern.

For more than 180 years the Boston City Mission Society has been committed to serving the urban poor in Boston.  Its mission is to offer “a vision of wholeness of human life against the realities of economic, racial and social injustice.”  It also aims to develop a sense of awareness and responsibility of these problems among UCC churches in Massachusetts. City Mission Society has worked for affordable housing and sponsors innovative programs to help inner city youth make healthy and informed choices. It also provides assistance for those in need of food, fuel, and shelter.

North Reading Christian Community Service was begun in 1985 by a group of concerned women from the various churches. Over the years, with financial support from the community and the local churches, CCS has provided assistance to families in need.  Assistance includes help with utility and medical bills as well as an occasional rent or mortgage payment.  CCS also runs an emergency food pantry that is available to North Reading residents.  CCS also coordinates the annual Tag-A-Tag ministry which provides Christmas presents to needy children in the community.

The Mission of Deeds was formed in 1993 by Anthony (Tony) Triglione, a successful businessman and resident of Winchester, Massachusetts. Mr. Triglione was haunted by images of children and their mothers, some living in affluent communities including his own town, who were sleeping on floors and eating on milk crates because they could not afford to buy beds, tables, chairs and other necessities.

Determined to improve the quality of life for these and other families, Mr. Triglione formed the Mission of Deeds for one single purpose -- to ensure that they would have a place to go for help at a time in their lives when they need it most.
