Rev. Hughes' parents come forward for the laying on of hands which our pastor emeritus the Rev. Dr. Hal Fohlin and Church
Moderator Ellen Wiklanski look on.
The entire congregation then joined them for the laying on of hands.
After that it was time for a party. The picture on the left, by the way, was taken 25 years ago when Rev. Hughes was first
ordained. (Yes, once upon a time he did have hair.)
Since we are called to "Rejoice in the Lord always" laughter is never in short supply at Union Congregational Church
Rev. Hughes' father has a motto when it comes to food. "Don't be bashful." Notice that his mother is right beside
his father to make sure he behaves himself.
Rev. Hughes cuts the cake.
As always the women (and men) did a superb job putting together the collation.
With our pastor emeritus participating in the service it gave long time members a chance to catch up and reminisce.
Rev. Dr. Hughes celebrates the moment with his parents Derwood and Germaine Hughes. Rev. Hughes credits them with teaching
him what he calls the Three R's -
Reverence for God.
Respect for Others.
Responsibility for Yourself.
