PATIENCE
TJ prepares a spot for another
plant in our Summer Sunday School vegetable garden.
Jada admires
one of the tomato plants that the children planted. While caring for the vegetable
garden this summer the children will learn patience, one of the fruits of the spirit.
The children
also posted signs in the garden with Bible verses to remind us that the beauty and the bounty of the earth is a gift from
God.
KINDNESS
The children learned kindness
by making old fashioned ice cream and sharing it with the adults after the morning worship service.
Some of the children made
ice cream by tossing around these LL Bean ice cream balls.
Abigail had fun taking a
turn at the crank and making the ice cream with old fashioned way.
Meanwhile Jason took a turn
watering our Summer Sunday School vegetable garden. The children are waiting
for the vegetables to grow and while waiting are learning that patience is another Fruit of the Spirit.
Everyone agreed the finished
product was delicious.
Since it was a hot day the
adults appreciated the children’s kindness in making and sharing the ice cream with them.
Everyone enjoyed the ice
cream and lemonade.
With a return visit this
summer from McDonny’s Petty Zoo, the children learned that gentleness is another Fruit of the Spirit.
Nolan did a good job gently
holding this chicken.
Leah also gently held the
chicken who seemed to take it all in stride.
The baby goats were popular
again and this year didn’t manage to jump out of their cage.
Love is the most important
Fruit of the Spirit and the children learned that God wants us to love everyone; especially people who are different from
us. Residents of the McGlaughlin House were our guests and joined the children
for a special activity.
The McGlaughlin House is
a residence for adults who have experienced brain injuries. Here Carlos shares
a heart shaped sand art bottle with Marjorie.
Everyone enjoyed working
together and helping each other to fill the heart shaped sand art bottles.
Pastor Rick with his friend
George. The church’s middle school Young Disciples and senior high Youth
Ministry also meet each month with the McGlaughlin House residents for various activities.
Bruce was happy to receive
a bouquet from the altar flowers.
Pockets is a clown minister
who joined us to help the children learn that joy is one of the Fruits of the Spirit.
The children learned the
joy is one of the Fruits of the Spirit with the help of Pockets, a clown minister.
Faith scrapbooks were made
by the children to put family pictures of grace filled moments like weddings, baptisms and confirmations.

The children with their decorated self-control cups. Each child filled their cup with a tied baggy of 75 jelly beans.
The challenge was to show self-control by taking the jelly beans home and bringing them back the next week without
eating any of them. Self-control is another of the Fruits of the Spirit.
